In 1995, I landed a really cool job with a company that wrote practice management software for dental offices. I was in that position for over 5 years and during that time, I was what they had termed as a "Road Warrior". I drove all over Michigan and flew all over the country as a Technical Software Trainer for Softech, Inc. The software name is Dentech and it is the most comprehensive, sophisticated and user-friendly software in the industry. Therefore, it made my job enjoyable, fun, and rewarding as I traveled to dental offices spending 2-3 days with their teams teaching them how to implement their computer software at the highest level. I loved it and needless to say driving was a big part of the job.

When I started that position, I was driving a used Saab 900. Several years earlier a girlfriend of mine in Colorado was driving a Saab and that is why I bought mine. That generation of Saab was very unique and felt very much like being in the cockpit of an airplane. I later found out that Saab built airplanes before they ever started building cars so that was why. In addition, at that time, designated teams built these vehicles individually. In other words, they were not built using an assembly line technique such as that of the "Big Three" American automakers. Therefore, they felt and performed very differently from the American cars that I had driven previously. That car felt like I was driving my living room down the road. It was so comfortable and had so many features. I loved it!!! It was a very roomy car and as a hatchback, I had lots of room for training material, office supplies, suitcases and sports gear that was necessary for outdoor adventures along the way. It also had a sport rack on it that I used for skis and kayaks. It held the road beautifully in all weather, had a blaupunkt stereo system, and looked really nice going down the road. I sold the Saab after a few years because the exhaust system had started to rust and it was causing me some trouble. It held it's value selling for only $500 less than I had purchased it for 3 years earlier. My next vehicle after that was an Audi 90 and what a great car that was! It drove like silk…
